Beyond the Surface brings together Add Fuel and Simon Berger in a duo exhibition exploring the image beyond its immediate appearance.
Through radically different approaches, both artists challenge the surface as a simple boundary. Add Fuel builds intricate compositions through patterns, repetition and fragmentation, drawing from the visual language of traditional Portuguese azulejos. Simon Berger, meanwhile, transforms glass through controlled impact, using cracks and fractures to reveal striking portraits and forms.
Placed in dialogue, their works explore a shared tension between construction and destruction, order and rupture, surface and depth. What initially appears decorative, fragile or chaotic gradually reveals another image beneath — inviting the viewer to look beyond the surface.
